Interviews conducted as part of the Clinton Oral History Project that examined “Recent Social Change in Clinton, MS and Surrounding Communities” in the 1970s.
This collection contains the original transcripts of the interviews. Many of the interviews were conducted by students in Dr. Alferdteen Harrison's Oral History classes at Jackson State University, while others were conducted by Dr. Harrison herself or by other members of the community. Some of the transcripts are handwritten and many of the transcripts have handwritten notes and edits. Each transcript included in this collection has the original interview consent form signed by the interviewee.
In addition to the transcripts, there are supplementary materials including pre-interview research articles, papers written by students, speeches given by Dr. Harrison, and materials from oral history workshops that Dr. Harrison conducted as part of her projects.
Note: some of the transcripts are incomplete, missing pages or larger sections.
