Estate Papers

This collection features archival documents from estates where enslaved individuals were held as property. Spanning wills, inventories, deeds, and financial records, these papers provide critical insight into the economic systems that sustained slavery and the ways in which human lives were quantified and transferred. While administrative in nature, these documents bear witness to deeply personal histories and the systemic structures that defined them.

The following estate papers have been organized by owner of the plantation, either directly or through family and marriage.
